About me: Right now, I am a college student living in southern California. I’ve been heavily following politics for as long as I can remember.

I would characterize myself as a left-leaning political moderate. I’m somewhat socially conservative and fairly economically liberal (as defined in the United States). This blog will attempt to maintain a high-level, respectful level of argumentation – even if I disagree vehemently with a particular person or a particular political viewpoint.

I don’t know if this is common occurrence for you, but the BBC just printed an excerpt from your column.

Yeah, I saw it on my blog statistics. I was wondering for a moment why so many people were reading it today.

It’s definitely not a common thing, and it’s really cool. Thanks BBC!

This blog is somewhat of a role model for me. I just recently (about a week ago) got fed up with everything and decided what I want to do is put my opinion out there. While I plan to run more opinion, kind of numbers you provide are essential to argument. I’m from Kansas where we need a bit more of a liberal (although I don’t like to say Democratic) voice. Keep on keepin’ on.

Thank you for the encouragement; it’s definitely a good thing to put your own opinion out there on things. I support your endeavor to start your own blog.

I’ve enjoyed reading your work on this site (as well as swingstateproject and dailykos).
I thought you might enjoy this site. I’m also a huge political nerd with a strong interest in understanding the demographic dynamics behind political trends.

The site displays multiple demographic statistics broken down by congressional district — and most interestingly census block. If you’re interested all you need to do is zoom into about a 6mile map width into a certain area and see the demographic characteristics of individual census blocks. Although it’s a little outdated (coming from the 2000 census) it’s far and away the best source for information like this I’ve found on the web.
